Memories of a Just Society.

I was sitting at home pondering tonight that somewhere along the line we seem, Canadian Liberals, to have lost our way. I don't know if it is the Liberal Party, or Canadians in general. Maybe it is the result of the ascendancy of the 'ME' generation, of which I am definitely a part, or the perception of a lack of connection between our political parties and the rest of the Canadian population.

I remember when political discourse was important. It wasn't that long ago that politicians where somewhat viewed as fulfilling an important role at whatever level they were elected. Scandal, poor character (on all sides), and a general lack of activity that seemed to affect the population positively has eroded that belief.

I remember, from when I was much younger, when Liberal leaders such as Pierre Trudeau spoke of ideals larger than all of us. Many didn't agree with him. Many don't now. That said, you always knew the P.E.T. believed in what he did and continually spoke directly to Canadians to ensure they understood his reasoning.

A blog, this one, that covers my thoughts has been an idea who's time may have come. I may have a different perspective than most who write them, maybe it will be more of the same. Comments will tell the tale for sure. Time will tell. We'll see... stay tuned.
